APRIL 2019 THE RIDER /19 Come to Erin on June 8 & 9, 2019 to celebrate the horse! On Saturday, June 8,

Horse Day Erin will start off with a hearty Cowboy Breakfast at the Erin Fair- grounds. Family entertain- ment throughout the day will include Bishop’s Wild West Show featuring four- horse bareback roman riding and trick riding, Bold Ca- nine’s Mega Dogs agility show, and David Cowley will demonstrate his Two- Way Trust Horsemanship with his horse Tucker. Kids’ activities will include pony rides, a petting zoo,

games, and a chance to meet a real unicorn! Erin’s strong horse heritage will be on display with archive photos, vintage tack, and horse-re- lated antiques featuring an authentic Erin to Guelph stagecoach. Equine educa- tional exhibits and live horse demonstrations will take place in throughout the day, rounded out with an equine equipment display, musicians, an equine trade show and food vendors. The Horse Day Erin

line-up will also feature

morning and afternoon clin- ics with Alberta cowboy, David Cowley. Now based in Wellesley, Ontario, David has a unique approach to building a strong and trust- ing partnership between horse and rider. In 2018 David was featured in a doc- umentary film called ‘Back in the Saddle’, winning an Equus Film Festival award. David was the 2015 Reserve Champion at the Calgary Stampede ‘Cowboy Up Challenge’, 2014 Pro Buckle winner at the Ex- treme Cowboy Racing (EXCA) World Finals in Texas and 2015 Pro High Point Champion with Ex- treme Cowboy Alberta. David will share the secret of developing a willing part- nership that has taken his horses to the top of the Cal- gary Tower or over the Gla- cier Skywalk at Jasper National Park. On Sunday June 9, On-

tario Xtreme Cowboy (OXC) racing will be com- ing to town for a full-day race with over 60 riders ex- pected to compete over a course of ranch and trail- based obstacles, demon- strating

an exciting combination of bravery,

horsemanship and speed. Judged by David Cowley, this will be the first sanc- tioned race of its kind in Erin!

Horse Day Erin will be

h sponsored by prominent equine businesses and or- ganizations in the Erin com- munity. A portion of the proceeds from Horse Day Erin will go towards the Erin Agricultural Society’s building accessibility proj- ect. Tickets will be available on-line and at Budson’s - Provisions for Country Liv- ing in Erin. For more infor- mation or to get involved please contact Bridget Ryan at
