What’sNew

Philadelphia is experiencing a hotel “boom.” The most recent properties to open were the Cambri Hotel and the Fairfield Inn and Suites. On the way in 2019 are the W Hotel + Element, Pod Philly Hotel, and the Four Seasons Hotel Philadelphia. With 40 hotel brands in the city, visitors have an assortment of options with style and comfort.

The Four Seasons Philadelphia is slated to open in the spring 2019, offering 360° city views atop the tallest building in Philadelphia, the Comcast Technology Center. Michelin-starred chef Jean- Georges Vongerichten debuts a new restaurant on the top two floors, connected by a waterfall stair- case.

The hotel will feature a spa and infinity pool span- ning the length of the side of the building with panoramic views of the city.

Chef Greg Vernick will open a seafood restaurant, Vernick Fish, with 140 seats inside and 60 outside along with an oyster bar on the ground floor.

A majority of the commercial development taking place in Philadelphia has been for the expansion or relocation of Fortune 500 companies with corporate headquarters in Center City. The largest develop- ment in the city’s history is Liberty Property Trust’s $1.5 billion Comcast Technology Center. The new tower adds 1.3-million square feet of office space downtown and serves as a beacon of Philadelphia’s growth illuminated high above the city sky. Also housed within the building is a startup business accelerator, with a focus on the development of technology companies.

The Met Philadelphia, the former Philadelphia Metropolitan Opera House, is set to open in December 2018. Originally built in 1908 by opera impresario Oscar Hammerstein, The Met Philadelphia is currently undergoing a $56 million restoration in partnership with Live Nation, Eric Blumenfeld and Holy Ghost Headquarters to trans- form the historic theater into the crown jewel of North Broad Street’s renaissance. Brûlée Catering, the high-end catering division for Comcast Spectacor’s Spectra, will serve as the exclusive food and beverage provider for The Met Philadelphia. Brûlée, by James Beard award-winning Chef Jean- Marie Lacriox, will offer full-service dining options for groups and events.
