Chickie’s & Pete’s at Parx Casino in Bensalem, PA
With its state-of-the-art facilities, the newly reno- vated Bucks County Playhouse is the perfect venue for a theatrical production, live event or corporate meeting. The Playhouse inspires, enter- tains and engages audiences with theatrical pro- ductions of new and classic plays and musicals featuring Broadway and Hollywood artists. The playhouse is housed in what was once a converted 1790 gristmill in New Hope. The Playhouse Inn opened over the summer with 12 rooms and a 7,000-square foot farm-to-table restaurant adjacent to the theater. Celebrity Chef Jose Garces runs this new restaurant and event space.
Parx Casino’s Xcite Center entertainment venue opened in early 2018, and plays host to a variety of concerts and performances. The $50 million expansion adds 45,000-square feet to the Bensalem property and also includes two restau- rants: Oliveto and The Liberty Bell Gastropub.
Bucks County is home to many important stops on the Underground Railroad, from taverns and churches to privately owned farms, many of which can still be visited. VBC has organized these locations into the Path to Freedom in Bucks County, which allows visitors to trace the journey that many took as they escaped slavery.
A new 107-room Hilton hotel, Home2 Suites, is scheduled to open in late 2018 in Warminster.
