What’sNew

The Devon/Berwyn area of Chester County is bursting with new hospitality sites. The world-renowned Devon Horse Show and Country Fair dates back to 1896 and is now the country’s oldest and largest multi-breed horse show. The Devon Club is located on the grounds of this historic venue and is available year-round for parties and meetings. Devon Club accommodates up to 165 in two spaces offering expansive views of its impressive show grounds. It also offers plenty of parking plus excellent catering and bar options.

Nearby, Terrain at Devon Yard continues the horticultural legacy at the site that for 70 years was home to Waterloo Gardens. Today, Terrain brings modern form and function to the site as a lifestyle center combining horti- culture, culinary, fashion and home design into one town center. Designed to pay tribute to the neighboring Devon Horse Show grounds, Devon Yard’s five structures incorporate Pennsylvania fieldstone and reclaimed barn wood in a rustic greenhouse style.

A one-of-a-kind special event venue, Terrain Gardens is a highlight of the center and is available for celebrations year-round. In its lush pastoral setting, four distinctive spaces accommodate up to 150 guests. The inspired in-house catering team creates locally sourced menus paired with signature cocktails and hand-selected wines.

A brand-new property has opened nearby in Berwyn, The Fairfield Inn and Suites by Marriott. The hotel’s location along the Chester Valley Trail, a 15-mile paved trail for walking, jogging or biking, is an added benefit, along with the availability of bicycles for guests to use.

Chester County’s Brandywine Valley is home to a wide variety of accom- modations, including charming inns and bed-and-breakfasts. Many of these are perfect locales for small meetings or retreats.

The Inn at Saint Peter’s Village, a 7-room Inn and full-service restaurant, is under new management and newly reopened after a renovation. Its special event space will be completed by early 2019 and as warm weath- er returns its unique outdoor spaces will be available.

The Inn at Whitewing Farm is creating a boardroom for intimate corporate retreats. Up to 20 guests will be accommodated around a farmhouse table setting with fresh local fare prepared on-site. Amenities at the prop- erty include a swimming pool and pond, tennis courts or team building activities. The Boardroom at Whitewing Farm will be available for bookings in spring of 2019.

The Inn at Mendenhall is a unique meetings and event destination. Both corporate and social functions flourish in this setting, which features two elegant ballrooms. This award-winning, 70-room hotel underwent gue- stroom renovations in 2018.

Also, The Desmond Hotel and Conference Center in Malvern entered a partnership with Hilton Hotels as a soft-branded property earlier this year, affording Desmond the opportunity to take on the Doubletree brand, while its ownership, excellent staff, restaurants and talented Executive Chef remain in place. Along with the Hilton conversion comes a full remodel with a modern take on traditional décor and the new name - Desmond Hotel Malvern, a DoubleTree by Hilton.

Finally, the latest addition on Chester County’s hospitality horizon is the Springhill Suites by Marriott - Eagleview in Exton, which is slated to open in late 2018.
