The newly refurbished Drexelbrook Catering and Special Event Center, located in Drexel Hill, PA
What’sNew
Delaware County’s diverse hotel landscape ranges from bustling airport properties to elegant Main Line hotels to beautiful Brandywine countryside properties to hotels in or near great “Walk-Around-Towns,” which boast newly flagged Wyndham, Fairfield Inn, Hampton Inn and Hilton brands.
By the end of next year, four new hotels will open their doors: a Candlewood Suites in Chester (home to Harrah’s Philadelphia Casino and Race Track and also to Talen Energy Stadium, which is home field for the Philadelphia Union Soccer Team); a new 100-room Holiday Inn and Suites soon will open adjacent to the award-winning Drexelbrook Catering and Special Event Center; and in mid-2019, a 100-plus suite Home2 Suites will open in Ridley Park; while another Home2 Suites is expected to open in Glen Mills.
The county also is home to two newly renovated meeting sites: the aforementioned Drexelbrook Catering and Special Event Center, and the Villanova Conference Center.
Specializing in business partnerships, the Drexelbrook Catering and Special Event Center is recognized as a premier cor- porate meeting location with over 45,000-square feet of indoor and outdoor space. Consistently delivering excellent cui- sine, assistance that tends to all of the details of events, and audio-visual services that help to bring an event to life.
The Drexelbrook Catering and Special Event Center has been undergoing renovations and improvements in preparation for the addition of the new Holiday Inn and Suites. Renovations to the event center include: the Ballroom at the Mansion and the newly redesigned Franklin Conference Center; amenities include a common all-day food service area, advanced audio- visual capabilities, high-speed wireless Internet and more.
The county also is home to several country clubs with significant meeting space.
“Courtyard by Marriott Philadelphia Springfield has a boardroom for small meetings located in the main lobby of the hotel. Our prime location adjacent to the Springfield Country Club, which hosts a plethora of meetings throughout the year, gen- erates a consistent and significant number of rooms for us,” said Lisa Ciavardelli, Director of Sales for the Courtyard by Marriott Philadelphia Springfield Hotel.
Because many Delaware County hotels are close to large meeting venues, Ciavardelli also noted that when their hotel sells out, additional guests seeking accommodations within the Marriott family are referred to the Courtyard’s sister property, Fairfield Inn and Suites in Broomall, which is just a few minutes west of Springfield.
