M Dear Reader

Welcome 08

eeting local people who have followed their dreams and achieved wonderful things is

a lovely part of our job.

The icing on the cake recently was meeting Debbie Wingham the world’s most expensive couturier and cake artist. Even though her career has taken her to exotic places overseas rubbing shoulders with the rich and powerful, she is proud to be a Yorkshire lass from Mexborough. Marking 100 years since the ending of the

First World War we remember the men and women who fought so bravely for our country. We have featured some of the historical events that are taking place in our area to mark this momentous occasion.

The opening this month of Artworks in Thorpe Hesley is sure to add a touch of colour to the lives of people in our area. Since landing in 2015 Artworks has helped many people with autism, learning and physical disabilities to achieve their artistic potential and brush up on lives skills through creative workshops and placements. When it comes to creativity in the kitchen you are sure to be inspired with the celebrity chefs who will be cooking up a real treat at the Flavours Food Festival at Elsecar in October. Most people I guess like me would rather put Christmas on hold for a little longer. However with many local hotels and restaurants taking bookings we have put together a few suggestions of where you can enjoy some festive cheer.

So until next time when we will be going all out and festive have a nice Autumn.
