diamond girl gears up to dazzle
the competition
She’s used to expertly studying the four Cs of colour, clarity, carat and cut in her role as a qualified diamond grader at Barnsley’s S&A Jewellers.
But this November, Amber
Rose Roberts will be the gem up for critique; sizing up her competition and hoping to dazzle the judges with a flawless performance as she takes to the catwalk to compete at the Supermodel England 2018 grand finals in Barnsley. After first dipping her perfectly
painted toes into the pageant world at last year’s competition, 22-year-old Amber Rose is returning for a second year with the hopes of winning the World Supermodel England crown and representing both Barnsley and England on an international stage. Unlike other beauty pageants,

Supermodel England is an inclusive competition, open to women aged 16 to 29 who can be single, married or divorced and have children or not. Embracing all ages, shapes and sizes, the competition allows applicants of varying experience to work towards their modeling goals while representing the towns they grew up in. “Last year’s competition was
the first pageant I’d ever watched, never mind competed in. But I quickly learned how it provides you with a great platform to be a role model to girls of all ages. “It’s not all about beauty; a lot
of the judging is based on charity work, publicity and being involved in your local community. Plus I loved being able to show everyone how great Barnsley is,” Amber Rose says. While the Barnsley beauty loves
all things glamour as a qualified beautician and makeup artist, she’s also a petrol-head at heart and is an advanced driver and IAM member. Gearing up to take on the competition, Amber Rose will be using her love of motorbikes and cars in the interview round in the hopes of speeding through to the next stage. Now that she knows what the
judges are looking for, Amber Rose is looking to top last year’s
seventh place and Miss Publicity title and hopes her continued charity work will reflect highly amongst the competition. All of the entrants are raising
money for Zoe’s Place Baby Hospice in Middlesbrough; a charity which offers respite, end of life and palliative care for children under six with life threatening or limiting conditions. Keeping it local, Amber Rose is
also raising money for her chosen charities of Barnsley Hospice and Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice and is already well on the way to beating last year’s grand total of £2,000. In July, Amber Rose
successfully undertook a 15 mile sponsored walk from Barnsley to Sheffield where she raised £1,500 to donate to the kidney units at both Barnsley and Sheffield hospitals. At the final on Saturday
17th November at the Fairway, Dodworth, Amber Rose and her fellow contestants will face various rounds including fashion and evening wear, beach beauty and the public Facebook vote. There will also be prizes for charity, publicity and most photogenic. There will be three overall
winners on the night; World Supermodel England, World Teen Supermodel England and Top Model of England – all of whom will win an all-expenses paid five-star trip to their subsequent international final.
