fusion celebrates newly refurbished Dartmouth Leisure Centre

Why not take a look and give it a try this summer! P

ublic and leisure centre members are invited to a FREE open day on 30th June to celebrate the completion of improvement and refurbishment works. To mark the completion of a series

of extensive refurbishment and improvement works at Dartmouth Leisure Centre, local families, residents and centre members are invited to see the exciting changes at the centre’s Grand Open Day on the 30th June, from 10am-4pm. Marking a major commitment to

improving local leisure facilities, the works were led by the UK’s leading sports and leisure charity, Fusion Lifestyle and were designed to significantly improve and modernise the centre. Helping to ensure that high quality facilities are available to all within the local area, just some of the improvements include the addition of new state-of-the-art gym equipment, as well as a new café, entrance and reception area. One of the biggest new additions is the creation of an extension which links the main entrance to Dart- mouth Indoor Pool, making it easier for members to navigate throughout the centre. Other exciting improve- ments include a new 35m2 poolside viewing area with seating. Visitors to the opening event can

expect a day packed with free activ- ities suitable for all ages including tours of the centre, competitions, face painting and a bouncy castle. Attendees can also swim in the cen- tre’s two pools, try out the latest gym equipment, enjoy a group exercise class or take advantage of special membership offers. Children can also meet the centre’s swim teachers and take a free swim school assessment. The works form part of a multi- million pound investment from Fusion Lifestyle, South Hams District Council and West Devon Borough Council to improve six Devon Leisure Centres. Along with Dartmouth Leisure Centre and as part of a three- year programme, other locations set to benefit from significant improvement include Ivybridge Leisure Centre, Quayside Leisure Centre (Kingsbridge), Parklands Leisure Centre (Okehampton) and Totnes Pavilion. Rob Taylor, Divisional Business

Manager, Fusion Lifestyle said: “It is fantastic that the refurbishment and improvement works at Dartmouth Leisure Centre are now complete, helping to significantly improve the experience and facilities for our customers and the public. “The improvement works have ensured that the treasured leisure centre can be enjoyed for years to come and we look forward to wel- come everyone through our doors to see some of the exciting changes for themselves, as well as taking the op- portunity to meet our experienced leisure centre team. “Dartmouth Leisure Centre is just one of six centres across the region

set to benefit from significant improvements and it is a privilege to be involved in the running of these incredibly popular and important sites. We have made a serious commitment to nurture these sports and leisure facilities which includes making a serious investment in their improvement and long-term upkeep.” Cllr Hilary Bastone, Portfolio Holder for Customer First, said: “I’m absolutely thrilled that the refurbishment works have been completed at this popular leisure centre. The much-awaited extension between the pool and the main entrance will mean easy movement between the centre’s varied activities. There are lots of new and improved facilities throughout the building which will prove to be very popular with its users. South Hams District Council

is committed to an investment programme to improve facilities at all of our Fusion operated sites, so that residents and visitors, both young and old, will be able to use the facilities for many years to come.
