Birdie, Eagle or even Albatross? Then why not polish your irons and see if you’re on par this May at the Age UK Rotherham golf day.


Following the great success of last year’s event which raised over £3,000 for the charity, the team at Age UK Rotherham are hoping for more local golfers to grab a slice of the action at their third annual event. On Friday 18th May, get into the swing of things as the prestigious Rotherham Golf Club at Thrybergh opens up its glorious and historic grounds for entrants to enjoy 18 holes of golf while raising money for a great cause. After a hot drink and a breakfast sandwich in the Clubhouse’s Fullerton Room, there will be a shot gun start at 12.30pm ready for tee-off. Teams of four will tackle the majestic par 70 course as they try and stay out of the rough until the leisurely competition closes around 4pm


once all holes have been completed. At over 100 years old, Rotherham Golf Club is known for its superb facilities with the picturesque tree-lined course designed by Open Champion, Sandy Herd. The club has also produced some big hitters in its history including The Masters 2016 champion, Danny Willet. During the competition, there will be the chance to take on female pro, Evie Carter, at the par three hole challenge with a range of Titlest


gifts up for grabs plus two five-star European golf holidays to be won.


Once all teams are back from their uphill and down dale feat, a two-course dinner will follow in the Jack Hulley Lounge alongside a raffle and auction.


Here, the competition winners will be announced. Could you follow in the footsteps of last year’s top three teams, Gilder Group, MEARS MiseRays and Wing Plastering? All money raised will go towards helping Age UK Rotherham continue to support older people in the town to make their lives as fulfilling as possible.


Entry is £50 per person and you can either enter as a solo player or in teams of four people. This includes the full game of golf plus breakfast and early dinner.
