to the May/June 2018 edition of Aroundtown. Dear Reader
s an all female team dedicated to our job it was so encouraging to meet a woman who takes being a female boss to another level. There certainly was more to Julie Kenny than we could have anticipated and yet despite all her achievements she is one of the nicest and most down to earth people we have ever had the pleasure to meet. We always get commended on producing a good read and so it’s refreshing to be able to inspire our younger generation to put down the IPad and pick up a book with a visit to a beary special literature exhibition coming to Barnsley. So whatever your age turn a new chapter and share the joy of reading.

The largest mechanical puppet ever constructed in Britain, the Man Engine is making his way to South Yorkshire. Set to wow the crowds over a two day event at Elsecar and Wentworth, the Man Engine constructed from old mining equipment will be a wonderful celebration of our rich mining history and an event definitely not to be missed.
On the subject of our mining past we were very moved by the tragic loss of young lives that is the Huskar pit disaster. We hope this real life story resonates with you and you join in with the 180th anniversary commemoration.
As ever we bring you all the best of South
Yorkshire from homes and gardening inspiration to places to eat and drink.
So until next time we hope you enjoy some sunshine and the lighter nights.
Happy reading Cheryl and Amber x
