a theme in how they end. I’ve concluded each article with an offer to reach out and have your voice be heard. A small number of volunteers work tirelessly to bring you the services and opportunities you have come to expect. Beyond the volunteer hours, I know there are innovative and creative ideas among our members that should be heard by our board. I hope you took an opportunity to have your voice be heard through our strategic planning survey. Your input will be vital in realizing our strategic goals. Regardless of whether you completed the survey, know that any of our board members or volunteers are always willing to hear your feedback.

I wish you all a smooth end to the school year and a restful summer break. I look forward to seeing our strategic plan come to fruition and hope it brings exciting changes to NJMEA!

IT’S A NEW ERA IN EDUCATION

Now more than ever, your voice and expertise as a music educator is critical. NAfME is here to help you make a strong case for music education under the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA).

On NAfME’s “Everything ESSA” resource page (bit.ly/EverythingESSA), you can find all the toolkits you need to understand ESSA and take action to ensure implementation includes music at the state level.

At bit.ly/EverythingESSA, you can also receive recognition for professional development valued at one contact hour for watching advocacy webinars.

And in the Grassroots Action Center (bit.ly/NAfMEgrassroots), you can make your voice heard on Capitol Hill. Your Association. Your Profession. Your Voice.
