THE NEW JERSEY MUSIC EDUCATORS ASSOCIATION a federated state association of NATIONAL ASSOCIATION for MUSIC EDUCATION News From Our Division Chairs Join the AARP! It’s not something to be embarrassed about. The discounts that come with the card are worth the

cost – and you don’t have to be a senior citizen to join. Most of us have spent more than enough time at our job. Now is the time to make it up to those that have been the closest to us. Spend some time with family and friends. This is a new beginning! So many people have been asking me what my plans are for July 1st. At this point – I don’t know. I plan to play

more and travel. I’ll also look for some part-time work that allows me the time to do the things that I haven’t been able to over the last 32+ years. Hopefully, next year, I will be able to write about some amazing adventures! Stay tuned!

Administration On Friday, April 13, 2018, the New Jersey Administrators Association met once again at Rutgers University. The

presentation for the session was entitled Collaboration Within The Arts: Teamwork Makes the Dream Work. Supervisors Matt Lorenzetti, of the Linden Public Schools, and Dennis Argul, of the Elizabeth Public Schools, brought faculty members from their schools to discuss ways that they come together as ‘chief creative officers’ and collaborate on proj- ect based learning productions throughout the course of the academic year. The teachers shared many innovative ideas and stressed the importance of preparation, flexibility and communication. A robust question and answer period left all attendees with great ideas to bring back to their districts and share with their faculty. The NJMAA final general membership meeting will be held on Friday, June 1, 2018, The session to be presented

is entitled: Your Music Tech Toolbox: Making Wise Choices for Instruction and will be presented by Joe Akinskas and Marge Lo Presti. The NJMAA meetings begin at 9:00 a.m. Hospitality begins at 8:30 a.m. unless otherwise noted. Meetings are held at the Rutgers Club Livingston Dining Commons located at 85 Avenue E Piscataway, NJ. The club is on the second floor. For more information, please visit our website at www.njmaa.org and/or reach out to our Board members with any questions or concerns you may have.
