Canadian Gun Hub hits a bulls eye with enthusiasts

Though the Canadian Gun Hub is only in its second year of operations, the business has exploded, and has earned the top spot for best entertainment and the second spot for best sporting goods store this year.


“We’re still really new here, but things have really taken off for us,” said owner Rocky Rutledge. “Ever since we opened, it’s been pretty clear that the area has wanted something like this, and we’re happy to provide it.”


The store sells guns and ammunition, but also offers an eight-person indoor firing range, which is what puts it over the top, says Rutledge.


“We’re pretty unique in the area,” he said. “We don’t


really have any competition in the area, we’re the only ones offering what we offer within 300 kilometres. There’s a few places to get guns, but we’re the only ones offering an indoor shooting range.”


Rutledge says there’s just something about firing real weapons people love.


“It’s an adrenaline rush for a lot of people,” he said. “Here you can shoot real guns with real bullets, without a licence. A lot of the time you have one friend dragging a few friends in here, then by the end of the night they’re all having a blast and getting competitive with it. I just think it’s an experience you can’t get anywhere else.”


Rutledge says there’s many uses for the range. The Management and Staff of


“We have a lot of corporate events, wedding parties, stags and stagettes,” he said. “Our Ladies Night in here is actually one of our bigger events. We also have police and security services come in and do their qualifications and testing in here — so there’s a lot of purposes to the range.”


Though he is happy with where the business is at, Rutledge says he won’t stop trying to improve the store.


“It’s a really big deal for us to win, especially for a small business like ours to get so many votes,” he said. “We want to increase the caliber limitations, we want to expand the store out when the real estate is available and we’re also looking at getting an outdoor range.”
