It couldn’t be a better time of year for the people at Ensminger Beck and Thompson to win an award.


The company is taking home the best accounting firm in Medicine Hat award in the middle of tax season, and it’s a big honour says office manager Fabian Delwo.


“It’s really exciting for us,” he said. “It’s always great news to get for a business, and it’s great for the employees to hear and know they’re doing something right. It’s also good for the clientele to hear that so many people think we’re meeting or exceeding their needs.”


The business has been operational for more than 40 years under different names and offers multiple services.


“It’s all kinds of accounting services,” said Delwo. “We do taxation, both personal and for business. We do years ends, panning, tax preparation — we do a bit of everything, really.”


During tax season, the company employs 79 people, and which is the most it will have this year.


Delwo says he can’t say what other companies do, but knows his staff puts the customer first.


“I really don’t know what other places offer to do, but I know we put people first,” he said. “We put a heavy emphasis on customer service, and we know how important it is. It’s just simple things like responding to emails and phone messages quickly, and getting back to


people as quick as possible. Everything really goes from there and putting the people first.”


Delwo says putting the client first has done a lot of good for the business, outside of just winning awards.


“We get a lot of referral business,” he said. We get a lot of people coming in from existing clients, and it’s great to see for us.”


As far as new additions to the business, Delwo says Ensminger Beck and Thompson is going to keep doing what they are doing.


“It’s just going to be more of the same from us,” he said. “We want to be consistent, and just keep doing what we’re doing.”
