Moxie's takes top spot again MEDICINE HAT NEWS


The folks at Moxie’s restaurant are so intent on providing high-quality options for your social and entertainment needs, they’ll even come to you.


Voted once again as the No. 1 casual dining spot in Medicine Hat, as well as the second favourite outdoor patio location, it’s safe to say diners know Moxie’s pretty well. However, what some might not be aware of yet, is for the past few years now, Medicine Hat’s favourite restaurant has also offered full catering services.


“We are one of only two freestanding Moxie’s doing catering,” says owner-operator Matt Peterson, whose name has over the years become synonymous with the local eatery and lounge. “We’ve being doing it now for three-and-a-half years or so, and it’s become a whole other way for you to connect with Moxie’s.


“We do weddings, fundraisers, to backyard barbecues — it’s another great side to our business.”


And customers need not worry about the restaurant trying to do too much, as it has a catering chef dedicated to that aspect of the business, ensuring the rest of the team is on site to provide the best in-house dining experience possible. Peterson is fully aware of what keeps Medicine Hatters coming back to Moxie’s, and there are no intentions on letting that fall by the wayside. On top of its well-known, efficient and valuable lunch menu, Moxie’s has been and will continue to be the smartest choice for dinner.


“To be recognized in a smaller city like Medicine Hat, where there aren’t as many dining options (as larger centres), it feels good to stand out amongst our peers,” says Peterson.


Patrons have come to expect delicious meal choices, exotic and fun drink menus and a modern, inviting atmosphere. Peterson says the secret behind it all is always the same.


“I think it’s the culture we’ve established in the


restaurant with our team,” Peterson says. “I truly believe the people you have in your restaurant are more important than the food, the decor and everything else.


“If you don’t have great people taking care of your guests, and great cooks who have a passion for food, you’re not going to be successful in this industry.”


Peterson and his management team have worked hard to build a longer-term team, resulting in less staff turnover and better experiences for each and every guest. It probably helps that Peterson is a born-and- raised Hatter, who understands the nuances of his community, and knows what matters most to the people here.


Locally owned and operated businesses always seem to have that little extra connection to the community. Moxie’s might have locations all over the country, but the one that sits on Dunmore Road is a true community restaurant.


And once again, Hatters seem to know it.
