BOVEY TRACEY Carnival

LAST year the weather gave us the run around during carnival week. We had to cancel Sports Night and Picnic in the Park was a soggy affair BUT it was still a jolly good laugh. Thanks to those that did brave the weather! The newly added Car Quest cemented itself into our carnival week. As ever our quiz, skittles and bingo nights were hugely supported too. The procession itself was an ode to the past in its variety and length. Its so pleasing to see carnival week going from strength to strength, year after year. This year at our annual meeting we were able to give donations to The Dartmoor Vale Rotary Club, Bovey Tracey Garden Club (formerly The Horticultural Society), Wolfpack AFB, Devon & Cornwall Police, Firefighters Benevolent Fund, Tina Richardson for the Christmas Lights and Ashburton Dartmoor Search & Rescue. Going forward, the committee have decided to have a charity of the year and all monies raised will go to them. For the year of 2018 we have chosen Wolfpack AFB. We hope we can help them raise more money towards their great cause of ex-service personel in need. As well as the success of carnival week we also had huge support for our Street Fayre during the Christmas Lights Switch-on. The street was so full Santa and town mayor Avril Kerswell had to walk to the switch-on as our float couldn’t get through!

Going into 2018 we have big news on our website – we have gone LIVE! Please pop over and see what we have so far at www.boveytraceycarnival.co.uk.
