The Engineering and Science of Water Parks

Ages 7-13

This is the perfect STEM offering for the upcoming water park season! A lot of science goes into providing a safe trip down those tubes. How do water parks use basic physics and engineering concepts to keep their 85 million annual visitors safe? Learn the secrets behind the fun of those slippery water slides, the winding lazy river, the wild wave pool, splashing spray parks, and the snack shack! Highly motivating materials like tubes, funnels, pumps, lights, basins, sprayers and more will be used to enrich and challenge children’s understanding of the water park industry. This experience will make a BIG splash with kids. After this class, participants will never look at water parks in quite the same way! A concession style themed snack will be offered during class. Participants will also receive a free one day pass to the Quarry for the summer season.

RS Ages 7-13

In a world where everyone is looking down at their tablet or phone, our youth are evolving into a generation with limited skills in communication and confidence. Communication REALLY is more than a text, email, video game, or hanging out on social media. Through an incredibly fun and high energy workshop, kids will have the chance to improve their verbal and listening skills through communication and confidence boosting games like: Bubble Gum Bonanza, Ticket Booth, Cotton Candy Catastrophe, Pencil Me In, Clothespin Chaos, What’s Different, and Whoopee Cushion Caper. Thrilling group games are the ultimate way to elicit communication from children. The best part is when you notice communication and confidence generalize into a child’s real day to day environment after departing class! Don’t be surprised if they volunteer to get up in front of a crowd more, have higher confidence when test taking, and just have a bit more pep in their step! Research shows that children who had opportunities to build communication and confidence as a child, display higher skills in these areas later in life. Kids will learn from a Certified Professional Life Coach the hottest tips in building communication and confidence. These skills are always a work in progress, but this will be a transformational kickoff. Treats and prizes included.
