InDancestructors
Nicole Drews has been a dance instructor with the Batavia Park District for six years. She has been dancing since she was two years old. She started competing in middle school with a private studio. She was also on the St. Charles North Drill Team for four years. Teaching dance is Nicole’s passion and
she considers it a dream come true to be able to share her passion with others. Her favorite part of teaching is to watch little minds unfold in the studio and for her students to break out of their shells.
Katy Payne has eight years of experience as choreographer and dance instructor. Most recently she ran a dance program at her local church. She attended Hope College on scholarship where she was a featured dancer and had the opportunity to perform and
choreograph in annual showcases. She graduated with a minor in dance and a major in business administration. Katy is experienced in many dance forms but specializes teaching ballet. Katy loves to encourage and inspire her students. She recently moved to Batavia with her four girls.
Jaime Sjogren has been the dance coordinator the past 11 years, and she returns to teaching classes at Batavia Park District after a hiatus to start a family. Jaime is a seasoned instructor of 20+ years. She has choreographed for theatre productions, performed in the Florida Citrus and Capital One Bowl halftime shows, and
with the Joffrey Ballet of Chicago. What’s her favorite part of teaching? “I love recital time, but the neatest part of my job is watching a dancer work hard on a move and then jump for joy when they finally get it.”
Deena Vargocko began dancing at the Bloomingdale Park District at the age of five in various styles of dance including jazz, tap, ballet, pom and hip hop. She later joined the dance team at Lake Park High School and was a member of the Dance Ensemble. After graduating from Carthage College with a degree in Business
Administration, Deena began coaching the Varsity Dance Team at Glenbard North High School. She choreographed a variety of dances including multiple State Champion routines in the hip hop and pom categories. In 2011 she volunteered as a dance teacher in Birmingham, England and in 2012 she was selected to be a member of Dance Stellar Productions, an adult dance group based in Schaumburg. Deena currently resides in Batavia with her husband and two young boys.
