Once RS

Paramount Theater’s final show of this season’s Broadway series is “Once.” People come into our lives for a reason. Sometimes it leaves us with joy, other times with sorrow. But it’s what we do with those chance encounters that truly defines who we are. He was a singer about to give up his dream. She was a patron entranced by his music. It was a fateful meeting spurred by their shared love for music. Hailed as “glorious and inspiring,” “gorgeous,” and “complete magic,” Once is based on the Oscar- winning movie and is an eight-time Tony Award-winning musical, including Best Musical, Best Actor and Best Book. In today’s world where we are all struggling to connect, despite a million ways to do so, sometimes the simplest way is through song. Lunch is on your own at Ballydoyle’s before the 1:30 pm show. Rated PG-13. Trip includes ticket and transportation.

One of the greatest stories ever told comes to life in the groundbreaking, iconic rock opera that reinvented musical theater for the modern age. With music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyrics by Tim Rice, this global blockbuster tells the story of the final weeks in the life of Jesus Christ, from the perspective of Judas Iscariot. As Christ’s followers grow more fervent, Judas must make his fateful choice between faith and betrayal. Filled with an exciting mix of musical styles that draw upon 1970s rock, gospel, folk, and funk themes, this contemporary imagining of the biblical tale features high-energy dance and powerful storytelling. A must-see Broadway hit of the new season! *Meet at the Geneva Train Station to catch the 10:30 am train (ticket on your own) into the Ogilvie Center in Chicago. Once there, enjoy lunch on your own. You may wish to try the French Market or Ovie Bar & Grill under the train station. The Florian Bistro in the Lyric Opera House does not take advance reservations.
