Swimming Pool Scene UK POOL & SPA AWARDS

Featuring superior technical creditials of a Heatstat powered heating system and Certikin supplied plant room essentials. Every element of this design comes together beautifully to create a truly stunning commercial pool. The gentle curves to the pool allow the light to reflect on the gun metal finish creating stunning effects.

“We have worked hard, together with the residents, to design amenities which meet the needs and can be enjoyed by all members of the community.”

COMMERCIAL POOL PROJECT OF THE YEAR

CATEGORY WINNERS H20 Cannings – Harbour Hotels Portrait Pools & Enclosures – Lucker Leisure

GOLD AWARDS Barr + Wray Ltd - Mount Kelly College World Leisure (UK) Ltd - Ribby Hall Holiday Village

Aqua Platinum Projects triumphed in the category for Commercial Pool Refurbishment beating off strong competition from gold- winning projects from H20 Cannings, Leisure Concepts and World Leisure.

APP was the main swimming pool builder involved in the restoration of the Saltdean Lido, transforming the main pool into a heated 40m swimming pool. In addition, the children’s pool was also completely renovated with interactive water features and slides included within the design.

One of the finest remaining examples of modernist lidos in the UK, SaltDean Lido was been saved by local residents who have successfully secured a 60-year lease from Brighton & Hove City Council (the freeholders) to operate the lido site.

The £1.3m contract also included a heated pool for longer season use although the position along the breezy Brighton coast made working

conditions difficult at times. Furthermore, the pool building is Grade II listed meaning changes had to be phased. So impressed was the adjudicating jury, that they also awarded the project a Special Achievement Award.

Dominic Searle, Senior Design Consultant of Aqua Platinum Projects commented: “We are thrilled to have completed the installation of the main swimming pool, dedicated children’s paddling pool and splash area in time for everyone to have fun and cool off during the heatwave.”

“It has been an honour and privilege to be involved in the restoration of such a historic lido, bringing new life to this superb Grade II listed art deco design some 70 years since it was designed.
