NEWS NPA IN FOCUS

gENERAl DAtA pRotEctIoN REgUlAtIoNS (gDpR) the general Data protection Regulations will come into effect in the UK from 25 may 2018, regardless of Brexit. As your organisation is currently required to be compliant with the UK Data protection Act 19998 (DpA) for processing personal data, your organisation will need to be compliant with the gDpR. many concepts and principles will be similar to the existing DpA, however, the gDpR will introduce new elements and significantly enhanced requirements regarding data protection. In September, the NpA provided members with an overview on the upcoming changes related to the gDpR. In the run-up to the implementation of the gDpR next year, we will be publishing a series of updates and associated resources to help your organisation prepare accordingly.

QUB School of phARmAcY UNDERgRADUAtE cAREERS fAIR the NpA were delighted to attend the QUB pharmacy career’s fair held on 29 November, meeting students interested in the NpA’s pharmacy Undergraduate programme.

the course gives members the opportunity to provide a structured training programme for undergraduates, allowing you to provide quality placements and attract the highest level of candidates. It can be completed at the student’s own pace across weekly employment or over a period of summer employment. there were also numerous queries from students in third year about sourcing a pre-registration training place. members are encouraged to advertise any vacancies, including pre-registration positions, through the NpA’s ‘place a vacancy’ page.

we are aware that there are an increasing number of queries regarding sponsorship and visa choices for pre-registration students coming from outside of the European Economic Area (EEA) or Switzerland. please contact the NpA pharmacy Services team on 01727 891 800/ 0330 123 1035 or email pharmacyservices@npa.co.uk if you require any guidance.
