HEALTH & BEAUTY

Lightyears Ahead

Over the past ten years, the team at Pure Aesthetics Clinic have been providing an expert range of skincare and cosmetic treatments in the battle against blemishes and common skin complaints.

Delivering everything from laser treatments and electrolysis to cryotherapy and radio frequency skin tightening, Pure Aesthetics’ beauty campaign has seen them transform the complexion and confidence of a wide range of clients with proven results.

Yet although being an Advanced Cosmetic Practitioner for over 20 years, owner Fiona doesn’t just rest on her laurels; the team are constantly training and improving their qualifications to be consistently ahead of the changing industry. From February this year, a self-regulatory body for the non-surgical beauty sector is launching a voluntary register of accredited practitioners. This means that anyone who undertakes the likes of laser therapy must have appropriate qualifications – a minimum of level four in each area - and meet

clinical and practice standards recognised by the industry.

Driven by public safety, the Joint Council for Cosmetic Practitioners, or JCCP, means everyone from plastic surgeons and nurses to dermatologists and beauty therapists must comply with the Clinical Standards Agency criteria and agree to a Code of Conduct.

Previous training by the treatment or brand supplier is no longer enough; standards are not consistent, courses are not structured and trainers are often not qualified. This means a simple hair removal session may leave you at risk. At Pure Aesthetics, all therapists are qualified to level four or above, with Fiona having recently graduated in her CertEd degree to be a lecturer and assessor.

Based on recommendations by Health Education England, the treatments currently under scrutiny are botulinum toxin and fillers, chemical peels and skin rejuvenation, laser treatments and hair restoration surgery. However, others such as electrolysis, cryotherapy and radio frequency are also in the pipeline to be reviewed.

By becoming voluntary members of JCCP, Pure Aesthetics Clinic are working with the Department of Health, regulatory bodies and industry partners such as insurance brokers and education suppliers to set safe, responsible standards in the beauty industry.

We only get one body, and while we all want to give it some TLC from time to time, it’s important to choose a reputable clinic such as Pure Aesthetics to ensure we keep it out of harm’s way.
