model, celebrating its golden anniversary, with the MGC Register encouraging nearly 60 of them to be found in and around the Clubhouse and surrounding the giant MG emblem on the ground in the Paddock. The car of the show, an immacu- late blue prototype, was drawn from their ranks. We tend to think of MG as the quintessentially British sports car, but of course there were many saloons and some had a foreign influence. For ex- ample the 1960s Magnette Mark III and IV, and 1100/1300 models (badge-engineered Austins/ Morrises) were designed by Pininfarina of Italy and examples of these were at the meeting. Pininfarina was also responsible for the roof design that created the MGB GT coupé out of the roadster and the same company’s expertise was used for the hood mechanism of the MGF of the 1990s.


The MGF and TF models are growing in popularity amongst MG enthusiasts and were the largest single type on show on the day, including a large display of over 40 from regular Brooklands supporters the MGF Register. This club featured


a photographic display of MGFs at the Track, beginning with the southern dealership launch of the car in 1995.
