to the next gig, you’re alone with whatever voices you have. Maybe they’re saying you have to do better, more, fill that next venue, or write that next hit… And who can you trust? Who wants a piece of you? Do they re- ally care about you?! Some care as long as you’re fun and on fire and can give them something, but what about your needs? We all have them and they don’t go away no mat- ter how busy or popular we are. No amount of cover-up will do. Maybe Chris got tired. I know the feeling. All I can say is there is help and hope and life beyond that “Black Hole Sun.”
mentally and physically. I found my friends later. They had wandered off in their own trance. We may have had a little “help,” but that show remains at the top of my extensive list. “Morning Dew” is the theme song on my radio show Rockin’ Your

It was a great show, and I was thrilled to see the legend. It was a small, his- toric venue and he wailed away on that key- board, but I couldn’t help but yearn for the rest of the band. I finally got my wish and saw the Allman Brothers Band in 1993. I was mesmerized. I have loved them since I was young in the ‘70s, but to actually see them was a dream come true. I wish it had been the original lineup, but that night was magical. It was outside at the World’s Fair Park, again in my hometown of Knoxville. It was a summer evening, but it was clear and cooled off when the sun went down. The city skyline was the backdrop. I made my way upfront and got lost
