same. If you don't really pay attention you won't know what town you're in. But it's a great way to listen to music and we always had big crowds. Stevie and Gregg got along good. Occasionally they would jam together, but not often. Danny would also sit in with Stevie as well occasionally.
JW Do you think any of those jams ever were recorded? WP Well, that's a very good question. If so, it would have been done by Stevie's guys or from the audience. These jams were rare. But those were great shows with Stevie. They went off well. Gregg was in good health. It was fun.
JW Can you tell us about some of the bands you are promoting today? WP After Stevie Ray's death, Alex pretty much decided that he was going to shut down his management company. I was basically running the Atlanta office working with Gregg. Alex's contract with Gregg had run out. So we tried to keep the company open there for a while, but he pretty much just de- cided that he was going to shut it down. We had a couple of clients like Webb Wilder who had done fairly well and had a hit record out. But I started very slowly to start up my own company and work with some new bands. I have signed Bobby Messano who has a record out on Ichiban Records. Also, I have Sonny Moorman who is based in Cincinnati and is very big with the biker crowd. He has a record out on Sun Records. The same label and stu- dio that Elvis recorded in. I have a third client, Mike Reilly who has played with Gregg in the past. He has a great blues record out with Elvin Bishop and Taj Mahal. All of these artists are blues/rock guitar based. We're just trying to build them up from the ground level. It's tough work. Kind of like going back with the Brothers, when I knew I was involved with the best band in America, but America didn't know it yet. And the same way with
Frankie and Danny Toler.
these guys. They are all very talented and we are just trying to hammer it out and make a mark. I highly recommend the records.
JW Where can we find these records? WP All these records are available through stores, the Internet, as well as the Kid Glove Catalog. The record labels are: Bobby Mes- sano- Ichiban Records; Sonny Moorman- Sun/ 706 Records; and Mike Reilly- Award Records. They are all nationally distributed. They are on music plus on the internet and they are all in the new Kid Glove mail order merchandise catalog that came out in Novem- ber of 1998.
JW In 1969 the Allman Brothers Band came on the music scene and added further to the ongoing change and di- rection of American Music. Can you tell us what this musical evolution has meant to you? WP Well, to me it was just being involved in the early success of the Allman Brothers up to and including their Twentieth Anniversary Tour. I was just pleased to be part of it. I've got great memories. I think the music stood the test of time. We all know that. It's just been great to be a part of it. And their music is both evolutionary and revolutionary. Any part that I had in their early success I am proud of. I just treasure all those memories. •
