New York-based tenor saxophonist, Joel Frahm combines rich tradition with exciting innovation. He has performed around globe with jazz giants such as: Rufus Reid, Kenny Baron, Diane Schurr, and Kurt Elling. Additionally, he works as an educator at the New School in Manhattan where he teaches applied jazz. His big tenor sound will be heard both as a featured artist and as a section member in the Ben Markley Big Band. Led by University of Wyoming Assistant Professor of Jazz Studies, Dr. Benjamin Markley, this group recently recorded an album called Clockwise: The Music of Cedar Walton as a tribute to the late pianist of the Jazz Messengers. Many of the band members on the recording will be performing with Markley and Frahm at this year’s festival. Additionally, the evening will begin with a performance by the exciting talents of the Wyoming All-State Jazz Band. This event starts at 7:00PM on Tuesday, February 6, 2018.

Dr. Mietz stated, “The Kinser Jazz Festival will be as exciting as ever this year, and we sincerely hope to see you and your students throughout the event.” Additional information, including festival registration and concert tickets, may be found at www.caspercollege.edu/jazz or call (307) 268-2606.
