National Assembly Washington, DC
When Music Can Bring a Nation to it’s Feet
On June 29th over 300 delegates, including both Collegiates and state MEA’s leadership, participated in the visits to senators and representatives in Washington, DC, Hill Day 2017. Television interviews highlighted the days events, and #NAfMEHD17 had a social media reach of several million people.
WMEA President Brent Rose and Collegiate representative Nick Hoskins met with Wyoming Senators John Barrasso and Mike Enzi on this year’s visit to the hill. Hoskins spent several event-filled days at the 2017 Collegiate Advocacy Summit (see related article on page 46).
WMEA officers Brent Rose and Sandy Steele also participated in the NAfME National Assembly. Much of the program focused on the future of music education for all students. Presentations from NAfME leadership, honors presentations, and performances highlighted the five-day event.
