MISSION


The Wyoming Music Educators Association (WMEA) is the professional organization for music teachers in the state of Wyoming, pre-K through college. The mission of the WMEA: Music Education in Wyoming: Music for Learning, Music for Life


CONFERENCE PURPOSE


THE WMEA State Music Conference exists to improve all aspects of music education in Wyoming. Attendees have the opportunity to participate in professional development sessions presented by master music educators from across the United States. Sessions cover a wide range of topics including teaching techniques, fostering creativity, assessment strategies, selecting music literature, and making music accessible to all children. Interaction with extraordinary presenters and teachers from around Wyoming encourages participants to grow as teachers and to learn new ideas for enriching their own school’s music program and broadening their professional experience.

CLINICS


More than fifty clinic sessions offer instruction and motivation covering numerous facets of vocal, instrumental and general music. Focus tracks include Band, Choir, Strings, Elementary, Technology, Collegiate, and In-Ovation.

Opening Night Concert Gala All-State Concert Session Performances


REHEARSALS


Wyoming All-State Band, Choir, and Orchestra rehearsals provide attendees with the opportunity to watch and listen to nationally recognized conductors working in an open rehearsal setting. Unlike concerts or clinics, attendees engage in meaningful learning experiences by observing rehearsal techniques through various styles of music. Participants gain insight and practical skills to use at home with their own groups.


28 COLLEGE CREDIT AND PTSB


In cooperation with the University of Wyoming, attendees may earn one hour of graduate credit (additional fee). Teachers may also earn PTSB credits while attending the WMEA State Professional Development Conference.
