ello all. The gathering of judges is winding down and the gearing
up of the state marching band preparations continues. There are going to be a number of changes to the State Marching Festival to make this year’s event more enjoyable and more about the students!
First, remember that we are going to
create a running list of the percussion that schools are bringing to the event so that we can use each other’s equipment (if you choose).This will ease the burden on the Troopers. They have always been willing to provide pit equipment, and still are, but we have noticed over the last couple of years that many schools bring their own.
Second, we are trying out our new rubrics this year. There are two marching judges, two music judges, a color guard judge, and a percussion judge. These rubrics will be available in drop box for those directors who wish to look them over again.
Finally, and VERY importantly, remember that all of your students who are participating in state marching must have a physical dated after June 1, 2017. This is a new WHSAA requirement. Check with your Activites Director for all the particulars on how this works in your school.
For all those of you who are not marching band directors, we encourage you all to come out and watch the 20 bands that will be showcasing their hard work. This year’s State Marching Festival is at the Casper Events Center, on Oct. 14th, beginning at 3:00 p.m. We feature bands of all sizes and abilities. When you attend State Marching Festival, you are supporting your former students, their families, other directors, and music in our great state. I hope to see you all there!
