All-State Auditions . . . Executive Director’s Message

Each of the Band, Choir, and Orchestra VP’s will likely explain the changes in their area-specific auditions. But let’s make certain you understand the big changes under foot for the audition process!
What hasn’t changed? The auditions will post to the WMEA website (
wyomea.org) on September 4th. Be sure to read ALL of the instructions. In particular, pay attention to the WHSAA information letter, which includes the link to student registration. Then download, print and duplicate the audition materials for your students as needed.
So, what’s new? Here comes the important stuff . . . There is one registration deadline - October 16th. There is NO late registration, no begging to add on, no excuses, no bribing your site chair.
Teachers: you will receive an email from your site chair on October 9th, which will provide you with a list of the students from your school who have registered thus far. You have an additional week to get any additional students registered. The registration deadline
is
October 16th. Period. Is the color conveying the importance? One deadline? No extensions? October 16th ... Done.
Next comes the payment. Teachers will receive the invoice to their school email address as always. INFO ALERT: You have one week to make payment. All payments will go through a form on our website and must be made by October 26th. You can choose to pay by credit card or upload a purchase order, voucher, or requisition.

Again, if you want your students considered for an All-State ensemble, actual payment OR proof of payment must be made by October 26th
The audition window is October 27th - November 4th. Your site chair will provide you with the date(s) of recording and one alternate date for students with a school- related conflict.
An additional change. Teachers will receive an email of rosters from WMEA on Monday, November 27th. What’s new about that? As per WMEA board action, you will now receive a roster of all of your students who auditioned, including their scores. Remember this email will include only your school’s student names, and will arrive via email on or around 5:00 PM.
The report will list students who have been Audition Changes for the 2018 All-State WK 13 WMEA Executive Director
accepted in bold, then the remainder of your students. You receive this information in advance of the official WHSAA posting to allow you to notify your students in your own way.
The official posting on the WHSAA website will appear at noon on November 28th. You have until December 15th to submit your official entry to WHSAA. The form is also available on our website.
Seasoned colleagues, I encourage you to guide and help the newbies through this process. It can be overwhelming with so much new information in a first year position. Less sitting back waiting for the failure and more helping everyone help students and teachers be successful! If you have questions or concerns, contact WMEA. We’re ready to help!
