Being physically fi t contributes to longevity, no question about it. In fact, improving your fi tness is a more important factor in determining how long you’ll live than whether you have moderately high blood pressure or are a little overweight. In addition, fi tness improves quality of life, gives you more energy, helps you sleep better, combats depression and helps fi ght obesity.
We encourage people to engage in some form of physical activity for at least 30 minutes every day. Fitness has such a positive effect in preventing or reducing the effects of a wide range of illnesses and conditions, such as diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol – the list goes on.

it’s recommended that women incorporate weight bearing and balance exercises into their daily routines in order to maximize bone density and improve posture. Weight training activities also help maintain bone density and muscle mass, something older adults often lose as they age.
It’s essential to periodically evaluate and vary your exercise program. Your body may no longer be physically challenged by the same routine and you may become bored. This can lead to burnout and lack of motivation to maintain a workout schedule. Keep your routine fresh by changing the kind of exercises you do, by varying the repetitions, and by reordering the sequence in which you do the activities.
