Broadstone First School, Age 4-9 It is well documented in the media

that teachers are leaving the profession for a variety of reasons that include budget cuts and increasing workload and it is the children that ultimately suffer.

At Broadstone First School we have the most incredible team of staff that work

together to support each other and ensure that our children really do get an extremely fabulous deal. I am not saying that there are not bad days(!) but it is on these types of days especially that the support network closes in and people ask what they can do to help.

Developing a

problem solving mindset amongst

the staff has been instrumental in how we approach any diffi cult circumstances. It is our responsibility to ensure our learners get a good deal (no matter what the state of the budget) therefore instead of allowing negative emotions to control behaviour or infl uence decisions, we identify the type of learner attributes we want to develop in our children before they leave us. Being goal driven helps us to stay positive!

Yes the work load is high; yes the budget cuts are signifi cant, but we believe that the learners in our school have the right to high quality education and I am so proud to be part of a team that is highly dedicated to this mission.

The media states that teachers are leaving because of the cuts: I believe the key to ensuring that our teachers are able to continue to provide incredible learning opportunities for our youngsters, is to ensure that they feel supported – as Ronald Regan said, “We can’t help everyone, but everyone can help someone.”

We warmly encourage prospective parents to visit our schools to experience the opportunities that are available for your child.
