TURBINE INSPECTION TURBINE INSPECTION

– SATISFYING CLIENT DEMANDS SMC provide Wind Turbine Inspections to some of the world’s most significant offshore wind projects

The impressive rate with which industry specific technology is being developed presents a fast evolving, ever-changing landscape for those working within it. Innovations in technology inevitably lead to innovations in operations and for this reason each client may demand a different approach to the last.

COMMITMENT It is SMC’s commitment to supplying only highly trained and experienced personnel that allows them to provide bespoke, quality solutions to match the demands of the client, whilst ensuring all work is carried out safely and efficiently.

Safety and quality are, of course, of paramount importance across all business functions, with Wind Turbine Inspections being an essential element within the construction and maintenance phase of windfarms.

THOROUGH INVESTIGATIONS Inspections cover a range of thorough investigations. First, Inspectors will provide full external visuals of boat landings, resting points and ladders. Next, connections, foundation tops, navigation lights and davit cranes are all surveyed. Internally, a SMC team will provide a water verticality check, a process which is used to measure the verticality of the tower in order to determine any subsidence or movement in the structure.

Ladders, floor gratings, and termination platforms are then inspected, along with the structure of the turbine as our inspectors descend into the confined space, where the grout surface is

checked to once again measure any subsidence or movement. All the while our inspectors are looking for leaks, damaged components, loose components, cleaning requirements, temporary repairs and broken lights. Oil and water levels, temperature levels and any irregular noises are also analysed.

IMPROVING EFFICIENCY Clearly, a Wind Turbine Inspection’s primary function is to ensure structural safety. Early discovery of any irregularities can eliminate future dangers, which in-turn saves costs and improves efficiency across a project.

QUALITY AND EXPERIENCE The company has, and continues to, work with and support industry leading developers through their provision of Wind Turbine Inspectors. It is quality and experience that places SMC at the forefront of offshore wind solutions and it is their commitment to prioritising safety and quality that is responsible for their strong reputation within the industry.
