EROSION PROTECTION TAPES FOR ROTOR BLADES In 2014
Windsourcing.com developed its first product: an erosion protection foil. “Rotor blades are subjected to immense strain and loads, particularly in offshore systems, since the wind at sea is much stronger than on land. Raindrops hit the blades like hail,” explains Stefan Weber. “If the surface becomes uneven, the aerodynamics suffer. This is where the erosion tape comes into play as it protects the rotor blades from various impacts. It is so elastic that dents are evened out and returned to their original form.”
