Broadstone Fields In Trust Family Fun Day: 2nd July

It is almost time for the highlight of summer in Broadstone – the Family Fun Day brought to you by the Broadstone Fields in Trust Association.

If it’s not already on your calendar or in your diary, grab them now and score out Sunday 2nd July to spend the day with the rest of our wonderful community on Broadstone Recreation Ground to enjoy music, dance, fun and festivities.

Bring your family, your classic car, your dog and your picnic or splash out on a hog roast, pizza or BBQ with our fabulous food stalls.

The donkeys are back and we have a range of familiar and new groups to entertain you in the arena and our usual wide range of community groups and local businesses offering games and treats and lots of local information about how to get involved.

Each year we raise money for the Association to improve recreation facilities within the two sites – Broadstone Recreation Ground and Charborough Park. Recently, Borough of Poole closed the toilets in Charborough Park and they have approached Broadstone Cricket Club to reopen them during matches. This is great, but we want to look at the feasibility of helping to refurbish and reopen them for our community to use every day. Whilst this might not

be considered recreation spending, without the toilets available for park users it will limit the ability for some to use the facilities we have and if we can afford to improve them it may attract more users to the park. I would be interested to hear your views on this suggestion. We will be seeking other ideas using our prize draw forms at the Fun Day, so please take the time to share your thoughts.

I am delighted that we have a main sponsor for the Fun Day this year. McCarthy and Stone is covering the overheads including the insurance, toilets and licences, so that we can put more money into creating a better event and raising more money. We are grateful to them and the other businesses sponsoring the 2017 event.
