Broadstone Youth Club Needs You


As we enter the final half term of this academic year, I wanted to pay tribute to the wonderful volunteers who have been running the Broadstone Youth Club over the last year.


Working with young people aged 12-14 from schools including Broadstone Middle, Corfe Hills, Lockyers, Allenbourn, Poole and Parkstone Grammar, Poole High and Magna Academy, we have built some great relationships and had lots of fun.


We had hoped by this time to have opened our third evening – for children in Year 7 – but so far we have not secured the additional volunteers that we need. Our core team is ready to go, but we expect the younger age group to be keen participants, so this is a direct plea to parents of children currently in Year 6 or 7 for your help.


Volunteering isn’t hard work in fact and we can organise it so you don’t work with your own child if they attend. You might be running the tuck shop, supervising ball games in the playground, just being present for supportive chats in the main


common room or coming up with crazy ideas for the 8 O’Clock Challenge... every week is different but always great fun! It would be so sad if we cannot get a team in place for September, so do get in touch – no experience is needed just a willing heart and a sense of humour!


We are thankful to Broadstone Neighbourhood Watch and Dorset Police for funding a Bike Marking night at the Youth Club on Wednesday 21st June. Everyone is welcome but we are particularly keen to see children and young people as their bikes are those most frequently stolen. The event runs in our car park from 5.30-8pm and you might want to take the opportunity to have a look round the youth club, or grab a snack in our tuck shop at the same time. Bikes of all sizes and scooters can be marked and registered so we hope to see you there.
