Welcome to the June issue
It’s the General Election this month, so you may notice that our councillors have taken a break in this issue. Don’t worry, they will be back next month to update you on local issues in their columns.
It’s the final build-up to the Family Fun Day next month on Sunday 2nd July – get a taste of what’s in store on page 6. The Neighbourhood Plan is progressing well (pg8). Well done to all involved for their hard work so far. If you’d like to know more, look for their stall at the Fun Day and they will be pleased to tell you all about it.
Stepping Stones announces the launch of a new project to help those with dementia on page 12, along with details of their regular groups.
Sadly shed and garage thefts have been on the increase in our area. Take your bikes along to the Youth Centre on Moor Road on Wednesday 21st June to have them marked (pg24). While you are there, why not have a look around and consider volunteering to help the Youth Club to open an evening for children in Year 7 in September (pg32).
It has been great to receive a regular update from Broadstone First and Middle, Corfe Hills, and Springdale First schools (pg36/38/39) in recent issues and we look forward to continuing to hear about their successes and extra-curricular activities. Congratulations also to members of Poole Athletic Club (pg40) on their excellent achievements.
See pages 74-75 for details of many of the local events that are on this month, including the Corfe Mullen Carnival (pg31) on Saturday 10th June. If you’d like to advertise your business, organisation or event in our magazines, we would be delighted to speak to you.
Until next time, Karen
