Poole Athletic Club Millie achieves qualifying for Commonwealth Games

Melissa Courtney competed in the W5000m at the Payton Jordan International Meeting in Palo Alto, California on May 5th. By winning in 15-28.95 she achieved the qualifying time to be considered for selection for the next Commonwealth Games. These will be held in Gold Coast, Australia in April next year. This is the reward for the time and effort put into her training by herself and her coaches. That is also a new Club record for Poole AC.

Competing for South-West in London Mini-Marathon

Three PAC members were selected to run for South- West in this annual event.

It incorporated the British three mile Road Championships and covered all main junior age- groups. The three who ran in London were Ashia W (u15G), Josh S (u15B), and Ben L (u17M) – pictured. They were all grateful for

the chance to experience the amazingly supportive

main Marathon course, plus of course the award of a participation medal!

Leagues summary

The fi rst matches in all fi ve Leagues in which PAC are involved have now been held. In the Southern League, as part of Team Dorset, we won in Andover, with the help of a number of u17s. The other Team Dorset fi xtures, in Crawley (u13s and u15s) and Hillingdon (u17s and u20s), have given competitive chances to a number of PAC athletes. In these and in the fi rst Wessex and South-West fi xtures there have been great improvements in Personal Bests (PBs).

Supporting Broadstone Middle School

During the summer term, PAC coach David L is visiting Broadstone Middle School weekly in order to support their Athletics team with coaching, mainly of jumps and throws. This is another example of PAC’s involvement with the local community.
