Our new 2017 charity

We’re thrilled with how much support we’ve had this year towards our chosen charity Walking With The Wounded and would love for you to help us choose which chosen charity to support in 2017.

Take a look at the six charity nominations selected by our Directors and why they’ve chosen them.

Gary, our Chief Executive Officer:

Candlelighters Children’s Cancer Charity.

“Cancer is a horrible thing, no matter when it strikes, but for it to strike a child is just unbearable. I really like the way Candlelighters split their donations between family support, respite/child well-being treatments and research. I am proud to put this forward as my 2017 Park Leisure charity of the year nomination.”

Candlelighters support families facing children’s cancer in Yorkshire. They get involved in all sorts of different projects to help ordinary families who are facing extraordinary circumstances.

Phill, our Sales Director: The Multiple Sclerosis Society.

“With my brother suffering from MS, this is a charity extremely close to my heart. I really hope you have no experience of this condition, but if you have, you will know how debilitating and life shattering is it.”

The MS Society is a community of people living with MS, scientists, campaigners, volunteers and fundraisers. They offer support to sufferers through the highs, lows and everything in between as well as driving research into more – and better – treatments.

Jo, our Financial Director: The association of Air Ambulances.

“I think Top Gear presenter Richard Hammond summed up the importance of the Air Ambulance after his near fatal crash in 2006 whilst filming for the show: When you’re critically ill or badly injured as a result of an accident, speed is the essence of saving lives. The ‘Golden Hour’ as it is often referred to, is the critical period in saving a life. The air ambulance saved my life by airlifting me from a wrecked jet-car to intensive care in just 15 minutes. I’m alive today thanks to its crew.”

The Association was established as a representative trade body for those organisations which form part of the Air Ambulance services in the UK. The Association and its members provide a rapid response to life-threatening situations has been clearly established.
