Be creative. Ask your local farmer for a few ears of wheat or barley and tie the bunch with a ribbon to suit your colour scheme. They make a great centrepiece for a coffee table or shelf.

Vintage style lamps are very popular (B&M and Wilko have great selections) and they also make great display cases when filled with seasonal items. Try acorns, conkers, apples, pine cones or colourful autumn leaves. Furthermore, with an eye to Christmas, tie ivy or holly around the base of an artificial candle or fill your lamp with Christmas baubles.
