CHAIRMAN’S MESSAGE
News
members wishing to use the Members’ Bar facilities on busy event days the queues are still unacceptably long. I can only apologise yet again, but assure you that we are holding discussions with Creativevents to find solutions that we hope to have in place for the 2017 season. Answers have to be found as next year will see the restoration of the Finishing Straight and (provided our fund-raising is successful!) the reinstatement of the iconic Scoreboard just outside the Paddock, so we anticipate even larger numbers of members will be attending events.
We are obviously pleased with the continuing rise in membership, but are keenly aware that in order to retain members we must provide the highest levels of service, and this extends beyond simply dealing with queues in the bar and to gain entry to the Museum. For some time we have realised that we could not continue to meet members’ demands regarding subscriptions and event ticketing on a part-time basis, so took the decision to recruit an additional Membership Administrator, working alongside Tim Morris, and I am delighted to welcome Jeni Larwood in this new role. Jeni was already a member, so is familiar with the BTM – I am sure her appointment will enable us to offer you a better service in the future.
have met many of you this season at on-site events and at several overseas venues (Laon, Le Mans, Chantilly and Angoulême), and your feedback has been largely positive. Record numbers of members have attended events at the Museum this year, which is especially encouraging given the inevitable disruption on site as the ‘Re-Engineering Brooklands’ project moves forward. Although the large numbers of members attending is good news, we are very aware that for Club level

We have recently started to develop a digital media strategy for the BTM, after successful trials of making audio and video of talks available on-line, and one of the options we are considering is the production of a digital (and interactive) version of the Bulletin (a word to our ‘traditionalist’ members – don’t worry, this would supplement, not replace this ‘hard- copy’ version that you are reading!) In this world of smartphones, iPads and ‘phablets’, we are aware that many of you would find this helpful, but as always, you are very welcome to contribute your thoughts, either to me (
chairman@brooklandsmembers.com) or to Steve Clarke (

Enjoy the rest of the Brooklands season and I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible at our Annual Dinner on 25th November, or the Christmas Lunch on 18th December (contact Angela Hume for tickets:
