BTM CHRISTMAS LUNCH – SUNDAY 18TH DECEMBER

he Members’ Bar will be open from mid-day for this jolly, festive occasion, with
lunch served at 1.00pm in the Napier Room. Expect the usual informal fun and hilarity followed by a light-hearted talk about Zoë Cano and Martin Gegg’s adventures with their motor- bikes.
Zoë has become a regular on the BTM Outreach stand with her book Bonneville or Bust and, in 2016, released her second, Southern Escapades. Martin is a Brooklands Volunteer and also has many intrepid motorcycle adventures to share.
The menu will be: Starter – white Stilton and apricot baked bread pudding with pearl onion compote and winter leaves (vegetarian). Main – roast Norfolk turkey crown with an apricot, sage and chestnut stuffing, roasted vegetables and traditional trimmings or wild mushroom mille-feuille with roasted baby fennel and truffle oil (vegetarian – must be pre-ordered when book- ing). Dessert – traditional Christmas pudding with whipped brandy butter cream. Followed by coffee and chocolates. The dress code is smart- casual.

Wimbledon singles title, a century at Lords in an Ashes Test or maybe gold in the Olympics 100 metres final, we all have our sporting fantasies. Winning a Grand Prix for Ferrari in Italy must be high on the list for motor sport fans and in September Brooklands hosted someone talented enough to have achieved such a success – Patrick Tambay. The amiable Frenchman raced for the illustrious Italian equipe in 1982 and 1983, a period of his career that was the focus of his discussion in conversation with celebrated mo- toring journalist Simon Taylor.
