BTM ANNUAL DINNER – FRIDAY 25TH NOVEMBER

embers and their guests are once again cordially invited to the Brooklands Trust Members’ Annual Dinner – to be held in the presence of the Honorary President Sir Stirling Moss and Lady Suzy. The evening will start with a sparkling wine reception at 7.00pm followed by dinner in the Napier Room at 8.00pm. The guest speaker will be aviator and adventurer Tracey Curtis-Taylor. Tracey is an aviator in the old- fashioned sense of the word and a pilot with an inspired sense of adventure. Her open-cockpit biplane flight from Cape Town to Goodwood in 2013 was the realisation of ‘something beyond a dream.’ It encompassed great adventure and daring in some of the most spectacularly beauti- ful and dangerous parts of the world today. It was a tribute to Lady Heath, the first person to fly solo from the Cape to the UK, in 1928, and a celebration of all the pioneering aviators who established the early air routes for what has become

the mass travel of today. In 2015-16 Tracey flew from Great Britain to Australia in her biplane covering 13,000 miles. This flight was in honour of Amy Johnson and her epic solo journey to Australia in 1930. As with the Africa expedition, the flight recreated the essence of the period with frequent stops in remote parts of the world.

The evening’s programme will also feature an auction to help raise money for the Scoreboard project. The lots offered will include a framed pen and ink drawing of Prince Bira racing at Brooklands, other motoring memorabilia and a very exclusive opportunity to buy a three-day charter for up to 11 people on a yacht based in Palma de Mallorca. This vessel will have five en-suite cabins and the charter can be taken up to 31st March 2017. It will start on either a Tuesday or Friday and the package to be auctioned includes the four-person crew (captain, chef, stewardess and first-mate).This will be an expensive
