Room to Roam in Lancaster

Now, take an hour or two to step outside the Lancaster County Convention Center and Lancaster Marriott at Penn Square to enjoy all that Pennsylvania Dutch Country has to share.

Lancaster, acclaimed for its rich Amish histo- ry, is the oldest inland city in the United States. Historic attractions abound. Central Market is the largest open-air farmers market in the country and it is only a short walk from the convention center. Fulton Theatre, the nation’s oldest continuously operating theater and one of only three designated a National Historic Landmark, is a must see. People’s Place Quilt Museum is another. Numerous pubs, restaurants, singular shops and art galleries beckon event planners, their audiences and participants.

The Lancaster County Convention Center and Lancaster Marriott at Penn Square are gems centered in the heart of tradition, history and sophistica- tion. With more than 90,000-square feet of combined convention, trade show and major event space, the venue is an excellent choice for groups as large as 5,000 or as small as five attendees.

The marriage of the 19th century Beaux Arts façade of former depart- ment store Watt & Shand and the lat- est technology and amenities gives planners ample opportunity to soar. Features include a spacious 46,000- square foot exhibit hall, flexible pre- function space of more than 20,000- square feet and an elegant 8,700- square foot ballroom. The adjoining

Marriott Hotel offers 299 guest rooms and an additional 14,000-square feet of meeting space.

Josh Nowak, director of sales and mar- keting, Lancaster County Convention Center and Lancaster Marriott at Penn Square, welcomes large social, corpo- rate and other groups to spread their creative wings. Recent themes have included: Arabian Nights; the Roaring '20s; Fire and Ice; Urban Downtown/Big Night in the City; Alice in Wonderland; the Great Gatsby; and Hollywood Oscars, just to name a few.
