Back by popular demand

The Seaview Hotel on the Isle of Wight has become synonymous with the crab ramekin, a hot potted crab dish topped with bubbling cheese and served with a slice of lemon. Back in the 90s, one chef dared to take it off the menu. The locals formed a pressure group and presented the manager with a petition; needless to say the crab ramekin was reinstated and has been on the menu ever since! The Seaview Hotel is located in the sailing village of Seaview on

the Isle of Wight. It has 29 bedrooms and serves bar food all day. • For more information, visit the website www.seaviewhotel.co.uk

WINE OF THE MONTH BORSAO GARNACHA 2012,

CAMPO DE BORJA, SPAIN If you thought supermarkets were the only place to buy affordable wine, think again. Local independent wine merchants provide superb wines at low prices and you’d be doing your local economy a favour by supporting small, ethical businesses.

This Spanish red,

coming from the Campo de Borja region just South East of Rioja, is hand crafted from the fi nest Garnacha grapes in the region. From the outset it is obvious you are in for a treat; bright ruby red in colour, with aromas of wild strawberries leaping out of the glass. On the palate it’s medium bodied, full of juicy blackcurrant and crisp red cherry fruit fl avours. It’s so approachable I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it with any meat dish; yet it wouldn’t be out of place as a stress reliever on a week night! • Available from The Secret Cellar (branches in Tunbridge Wells and Wadhurst) for the excellent price of £7.
