FURTHER LAW SOCIETY ACCREDITATION
FOR LOCAL LEGAL FIRM Whitehead Monckton is delighted to have achieved accreditation under the Law Society’s Wills and Inheritance Quality Scheme (WIQS). This accreditation confirms the firm follow best practice procedures to meet the highest standards of technical expertise and client service in providing tailored wills and probate advice to clients. Only a small number of law firms in Kent have gained this accreditation. With offices in Tenterden, Maidstone and Canterbury, Whitehead Monckton was established more than 230 years ago and is one of the largest law firms in Kent, offering legal services to both individual and business clients The firm has a Tax and Estates team in all three of its offices giving clients easy access to specialist advice.
Kerin Speedie, who heads the Whitehead Monckton Tax and Estates Team, commented: “We’re really pleased with this accreditation – everyone in the team pride themselves on the quality of service they provide to clients, and it’s great to see that recognised through this scheme. It also gives that extra reassurance to clients when they deal with very personal arrangements for their wills and succession planning.” • For more information, visit

WIDENING THE A21
News that the project to widen two and a half miles of the A21 between Tonbridge and Pembury has finally been given the ‘green light’ promises to bring closure to a campaign that has lasted 20 years. The decision follows a public enquiry that was held in May 2013. Tunbridge Wells MP Greg Clark – who claims to have devoted eight of his own years to the cause – described the announcement from aptly-named Roads Minister Robert Goodwill as “a fantastic day for West Kent”.
After a number of postponements, the £92 million ‘dualling’ scheme to remove the notorious bottleneck is expected finally to get under way in 2015

while some predict that preliminary work could even start later this year. Either way, the project promises to deliver huge benefits to residents, businesses and the local economy in general – not to mention drivers and passengers who are simply trying to reach the South coast.
