Agricultural Fair— ―Country Pride… County Wide‖

We enjoyed another successful Fair! Our new theme was ―Country

Pride…County Wide‖ We set new records this year, even with three suspect weather days.

We were up 5.33 % in total attendance. We set the following new daily records: Largest single day record Saturday, April 6, 2013 (23,199), and Sunday (14,603). This was the third consecutive year that we have set a new Sunday record. Total attendance was 103,367. Our opening day ribbon cutting was well attended but we were down 53% due to poor weather. However, our High School Night of Competition was a big suc- cess. Friday was Fair Day. All local schools were out for the Fair. Saturday

was a big day! The weather was perfect and so was the crowd. We set our single day attendance record with 23,199 guests attending. We were honored to have the Mid-West Fair Association members attend our Fair. We enjoyed the visit by our industry guests and were excited to hear their comments. Sunday was another beautiful day. The Invitational Classic Car Show

was a hit for the second year. Over 50 owners brought their treasured cars and tractors for our guest to see and enjoy. The 4-H/FFA Youth Livestock Sale produced $207,476 for 94 local 4-H

and FFA participants to help with their college fund. Average price per pound for swine was $7.58 and $3.20 for steers. Both were nice in- creases over last year. Competitive exhibits totals were down this year. We started an on-line entry system for our Home Arts and had mixed results.

A major capital improvement project

was completed just prior to this year‘s fair. We moved our main entrance and expanded our ticket booths. We went from 5 windows to 16. Other improve- ments that were made prior to the fair included: New Guest Services Build- ing; Expanded guest walkways from Midway to Cattlemen‘s; Arena en- trance; Guest Message Boards We again tracked zip codes. This year 45.11% were from out of Clay

County. Our out of state guests tracked at 1.81%. The out of county num- bers were up 4.91% compared to last year. Website visits totaled 64,260 during the fair. The top three destinations

after the home page were: Daily Schedule, Ticket Information, and Get Directions. This indicated we are still getting a lot of new guests. Our social media continues to improve with almost 15,000 likes on Facebook. This provided great feedback and sharing within our Fair family. Yes we enjoyed

another great Fair. We continue to be blessed with tre- mendous commu- nity support, spon- sor partners and dedicated volun- teers. Their pride and passion for our Fair is our success. We have an awe- some team!
