My Aches & Pains:
Alternatives to Traditional Rx & Surgery By Laurie Blanscet, M.D.
see a difference. Then you slowly reintroduce the potentially allergenic food until you figure out which food is bad for you. It is best to do this with medical supervision so that you are getting adequate nutrition while you are figuring this out. Another cause of diffuse aches
Do you have joint pains in the
morning? Or pain all day? Do you dread the thought of bending over to pick something up? Are you forced to take a pill in order to function? Or perhaps you are even thinking about surgery to replace a knee or a hip joint?
Many of you may think that your
only options are to take pain pills, have surgery, or just suffer through life. That is simply not the case. First you need to know the
cause of your pain. If you have all over body aches/pains then the first place to look (after a medical lab work up of course) is your diet. Food allergies are a common cause of all over body pain (as well as brain fog, mood changes, digestive con- cerns, rashes, etc). These allergies are often overlooked and difficult to test for. Your intestines (gut) are an important gateway from which the food you eat gets moved over into your body. When you eat foods that cause inflammation to your gut, your body mounts a defense and this ends up as an inner war. Your body ends up attacking itself and this is what causes pain. If you think you may have a food
allergy or sensitivity, the best thing to do is an elimination diet. This is where you eliminate the most com- mon food allergens (corn, dairy, wheat, sugar are a good place to start). You eat a clean diet (whole foods that are organic) and let your body reset. When you combine this with colon therapy you can really
and pains is a lack of Testosterone. This can occur in both men and women. Often a person will get a lab drawn and it is in "normal" range but the levels really are not optimal. The poor person continues to have fatigue and pain (along with mood changes, low libido, muscle loss, etc) and is usually told that they are fine. If you are over 35 and are oth- erwise healthy but you have general aches/pains, I suggest that you get your Testosterone properly evalu- ated. Those are the most common
causes of diffuse pain. The impor- tant thing is to look for the cause and then fix it. Do not just mask it with pain pills. If you have specific areas of pain
then a specific diagnosis and treat- ment is in order. Chronic headaches, back pain, extremity joint pain, etc can be from arthritis, nerve irritation, tendon irritation, etc. You need to have a proper evaluation to deter- mine the cause. Often x-rays and MRI's only show a piece of the story. Many people have had surgery
only to find out that what was abnor- mal on the x-ray/MRI was not the source of their pain. Ultrasound done while your body can be moved and you can be questioned on your pain, is the best way to determine the actual cause of your pain. This takes a specially trained person but it is the only way to see nerve prob- lem accurately. By looking at your anatomy while you are being moved and seeing what is causing you pain, it can be determined if prolotherapy, PRP, Stem Cell, or another treatment option is best for you. The impor- tant thing to know is that there are alternatives to just living with the pain.
