SAFETY RECORDS


All the UK resorts have outstanding safety records in their swimming pools and trained lifeguards are on duty all the time water facilities are in use.


Many offer swimming lessons for youngsters, but will guide youngsters who cannot swim to the shallow and paddling areas where toddlers and parents can splash about while getting used to water.


“The great thing about resorts is that families can be more relaxed in water and take their time with children who can enjoy themselves without the overcrowding that sometimes happens in peak periods at local swimming baths,” says Adrian Lee, a leading UK holiday industry consultant.


“In our research we have found that families make choices about which resorts they stay at based on a number of factors – price, location and facilities, of which swimming pools are the number one on the list.


“Resorts with the most exciting water features, such as flumes


and slides, rate highly – and more parents are looking at the safety aspects, so plenty of shallow pools for tiny tots and mums score highly.


“If resorts are next to the sea, which most are, then that is an added bonus as you have all the benefits of water without having to worry about the weather.” Pools that are based at seaside resorts do well in the summer months – particularly in the wet summers that Britain has >
