The Orlando magic pulled off a mid season blockbuster trade that sent Guard Vince Carter and Backup center Marcin Gortat to the Phoenix Suns and got guard Jason Richardson and former magic Hedo Turkoglu back. They also picked up troubled guard Gilbert Arenas from the Washington Wizards while they sent Forward Rashad Lewis to the Wizards.
The trade has had the opposite effect as the Magic were eliminated by a more deter- mined Atlanta Hawks team. The Orlando Magic having lost this series can be rest as- sured that it will be next to impossible to resign their star center; Dwight Howard who becomes a free agent this summer.
Western Conference
On the western front of the NBA we have some pretty intriguing battles going on and as most already see it we are headed into the second round with a major upset. Memphis Grizzlies (8th Seed) Vs San Antonio Spurs (1st Seed)
The San Antonio Spurs are the overall number one seed in the NBA with 61 wins dur- ing the regular season and they have been upset by a number eight seeded team in the Memphis Grizzlies. The Grizzlies lead the series from game one till they eventu- ally eliminated the Spurs in the sixth game. The Grizzlies matched up well against the Spurs and after winning the series they will now go on to face the Oklahoma City Thunder.
